Marvin Stewart

The Rev. Marvin A. Stewart, 92, of Ironton, formerly of Milton, W.Va.,went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, in King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, Ky. He was born Nov. 12, 1919, in Milton, a son of the late Otis and Marcella Brown Stewart. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Martha Evelyn Stewart; two sons, Thomas Patrick and Stephen Kent Stewart. He was a devoted Christian and dedicated to his ministry. He was a member of Ice Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Ironton and pastored several churches in Ohio and West Virginia. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Ruth Stewart of Kitts Hill; four grandchildren, George Lee (Lori) Stewart, Carrie (Jon Michael) Devine, Amy Stewart, and Katerina Stewart; six great grandchildren, Shane Michael Stewart, Brittany Leeann Stewart, Emily Devine, Grace Devine, Claire Devine and Joel Devine. Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with the Rev. Roger Pierce and the Rev. Allen Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Culloden Cemetery. Gladys Simpson

Gladys Mae (Bowman) Simpson, 87, of Tampa, Fla., formerly of Russell, Ky., passed away under the care of Hospice on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012. She was born July 15, 1924, the daughter of the late Harry Edward and Myrtle (Hanshaw) Bowman.

Gladys graduated from South Point High School and Ironton Business School. She was a member of Van Dyke United Methodist Church in Tampa and Mead Memorial United Methodist Church in Russell. Gladys was a loving mother, grandmother, and wife, an avid rose gardener and cook, and loved spending time with her two granddaughters.

Gladys is survived by her husband, Gene Simpson of Tampa, whom she married on Aug.17, 1957; one daughter, Debra ( Steve) Reed of Tampa; two granddaughters, Courtney Lynn Reed and Hayley Nicole Reed both of Tampa; two sisters, Jane (Bob) Hanshaw of Zephyrhills, Fla. and Ruth Howell of St. Cloud, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Russell with Brother Chad Pemberton officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lifepath Hospice 3010 West Azeele St., Tampa, FL, 33609 in memory of Gladys Simpson/Teal Team.

Robert Mabry

Robert Mabry, 55, of Ashland, Ky., passed away at his residence on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012. The Huntington, W.Va., native was born July 4, 1956, a son to the late John and Evangeline (Farrow) Mabry. Although born in West Virginia Robert was raised and attended schools in Ironton. Robert was a 1974 graduate of Ironton High School. Robert worked as a self employed contractor restoring homes.

Robert is preceded in death by a brother, Cline Farrow.

Robert is survived by three children, Derick Buckner, Courtney Mabry-White, both of Huntington, and Devon Hord of Ashland, Ky.; a brother, Arthur Mabry of Columbus; a sister, Zanthia Jones of Columbus; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be noon Saturday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Carter officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery. La Lisa Doggett

La Lisa M. Doggett, 79, of Scottown, 79, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, at Sunset Nursing Center. There will be a private graveside service at West Park Cemetery. Hall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
