Beatrice Kitchen
Beatrice Osborne Kitchen, 87, of Ironton, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, from Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
She was born on May 10, 1924, in Johnson County, Ky., to the late Charlie Osborne and Edna Conner.
“Bea,” as she was called by everyone, never knew a stranger and her house and dinner table were always open to everyone.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Thompson of Louisa, Ky., and is survived by her sister, Eleanor Minas of Boerne, Texas.
Also surviving is her husband of 64 years, Garland Kitchen and two children, Charlotte Williams and Charlie Kitchen of Ironton.
Bea was a graduate of Oil Springs High School and was of the Baptist faith. In her younger years she worked at Louisa General Hospital as a nursing aide, but her greatest accomplishment was being a loving mother and homemaker to her family for over 67 years. “A mother always finds the time for the little things that matter most.”
The family extends a big thanks to Jamie Hawk and Kassie Large for help and support and a special thanks to Brittish Large for the care she gave to our mother. The family also thanks Community Hospice Care Center of Ashland, Ky.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, with the Rev. Steve Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point. Darren Brown
Darren Matthew Brown, 25, of Chesapeake, passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at his home.
The Hollywood, Fla., native was born April 3, 1986, the son of Darren Max and Evelyn Sue Carter Brown of Ironton.
Darren attended Chesapeake High School and was a self-employed construction worker. He loved motorcross racing, shooting pool and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Manuel and Betty Spurlock Carter; his paternal grandfather, Larry Brown;
two uncles, Tim Brown and Shawn Brown and an aunt, Tammy Brown.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his paternal grandmother, Karolyn Gail Hook of Ironton; two sisters, Nicole Marie Brown of Burlington and Sara Beth Brown of Ironton;
three uncles, John A. (Melinda) Carter of Huntington, W.Va., Manuel E. (Roxanne) Carter of Port St. Lucy, Fla., and Keith W. (Clara) Carter of Huntington, W.Va.; an aunt, Ada M. (William) Todd of Proctorville; three cousins, Brian and Kaley Carter both of Huntington, W.Va., and Larry Dement of Kitts Hill
his girlfriend, Sierra Conner of Proctorville; close friends, Amber Ferguson and Tony Boggs both of Proctorville, Jacob Burns, Justin Stapleton, Aaron and Tracey Dement all of Chesapeake, and Dale Cremeans of Chesapeake.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hayes – Phillips Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Dement officiating. Burial will follow in Myrtle Ridge Cemetery. George Dearfield
George Washington Dearfield, 78, of Wheelersburg died Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at OSU Hospital in Columbus. He was the husband of Ouita Storey Dearfield, who survives. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg. Burial will be in Memorial Burial Park. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour before the services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Patricia Casto
Patricia Casto, 59, of Proctorville, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. She was the wife of Michael Casto, who survives. Funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Hall Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Barbour and Dr. Gary Patton officiating. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery.
