Richard Gothard

Richard Alan Gothard, 52, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at home after an extended illness.

He was born April 17, 1959, the son of the late Glendal Richard and Frances Marie Gothard. He was a truck driver for Scioto Block in Ashland, Ky., and was a Rock Hill Band Booster, serving as president for one year.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Sharon (Ratliff) Gothard; one son, Matthew Alan Gothard; three sisters and brothers- in- law, Rhonda and Grover Christian, Cindy and Rick McDonie and Sally Bogess and her fiancé Michael, all of Ironton; three brothers- in- law and their spouses, Phillip and Debra Ratliff of Flatwoods, Ky., Paul and Evie Brown of South Point, and Jim and Jeanie Johnson of Ironton; one sister- in- law and her spouse, Mary and Bruce Perry of St. Lucie, Fla., and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Resurrection Hope United Methodist Church, Seventh and Wyanoke streets in Ironton by Pastors Todd Wallace and Randy Tate. Friends may call from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Reger Funeral Home in Huntington, W.Va. Mary F. Hawley

Mary F. Hawley, 84, of Ironton, formerly of Wilmington, died 7:30 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2012, at her residence. Her husband, William J. Hawley, preceded her in death July 22, 1994. They were married June 25, 1949. Mrs. Hawley was born Oct. 1, 1927, in St. Louis, Mo., daughter of the late John and Margaret Mary Yahle Bucher. She was a graduate of Wilbur Wright High School in Dayton. She was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Wilmington and the Sacred Heart Sodality. She had also been a volunteer at Clinton Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Hawley is survived by three sons, Michael Stephen Hawley of Clayton, Bill Hawley of Dayton and Daniel Hawley of Portsmouth; a daughter, Patrice Cutlip of Ironton; a sister, Barbara (Louis) Youngblood of Hiawassee, Ga.; four grandchildren, Michael (Brenda Fields) Hawley, Scott (Carole) Hawley, Zachary (Ambria Freeman) Cutlip, and Jason (Annie) Cutlip; and two great grandchildren, Dylan Hawley and Tomi Mae Cutlip. In addition to her husband and parents, two brothers, John Bucher and George Bucher, are preceded in death.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the St. Columbkille Catholic Church, 73 N. Mulberry St., Wilmington with Rev. James M. Wedig officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington. Friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Columbkille Catholic Church.

Connie Miller

Connie Sue Miller, 52, of Coal Grove, passed away Sunday March 11, 2012, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. The Ironton native was born Nov. 5, 1959, the daughter of Loraine McKenzie Wilson of Coal Grove and the late Carl Wilson.

Connie attended Dawson-Bryant schools and attended Main Street Freewill Baptist Church in Coal Grove. She was of the Southern Baptist faith and was a homemaker.

In addition to her father she was preceded in death by a son, Carl Edward “Slugger” Wilson III; and two sisters, Kathy Wilson and Linda Wilson.

In addition to her mother she is survived by husband, Paul Miller of Ironton whom she married Nov. 6, 1993; son and daughter-in-law, Dickie and Bobbie Wilson of Ironton; daughter, Savannah Wilson of Ironton; four grandchildren, Tyler, Travis and Tianna Wilson and Katherine Miller; brother, Carl Wilson of Coal Grove; brother, Ernest Wilson of Coal Grove; brother, George Wilson of Ironton; brother, Jerry Wilson of Ironton; brother, Samuel Wilson of Coal Grove; sister, Sally Wilson of Ironton; and sister, Jill Johnson of Coal Grove.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Bartrum officiating. Burial will follow in McKenzie Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Patricia Scott

Patricia L. “Creaky” Vinson Scott, 79, of South Point, died Thursday, March 8, 2012, at her residence. Funeral will be noon Thursday at Henson Mortuary, Barboursville, W.Va. Visitation will 11 a.m. to service time on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Burlington Cemetery, Burlington.

 

Gary Blankenship

Gary H. Blankenship, 72 of Deering, died Tuesday March 13, 2012, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. He was the husband of Judith Waller Blankenship, who survives. Arrangements are pending O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home.

Bobby Hawthorne

Bobby Hawthorne, 64, of Proctorville, died Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at his residence. He was the husband of Pamela Hawthorne, who survives. There will be a private funeral service.
