Emma Markel

Emma Mae Markel, 88, of Ironton, passed away Monday, March 26, 2012, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. The Ironton native was born Oct. 22, 1923, the daughter of the late Jacob and Mae Wymer Fisher. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Markel, who passed away Nov. 8, 2000.

Mrs. Markel was a graduate of Ironton High School and a homemaker. She was a member of the Immanuel Methodist Church in Ironton.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Harold Fisher, Frank Fisher, Carl Fisher and George Fisher; a sister, Anna Margaret Gerstman; and a grandson, Michael Paul Carmon.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Eva and Jim Mick of Deering and Teresa and Mike Carmon of Ironton; a son, E.J. Markel and his fiancee, Lynn Erwin of South Point; a sister, Ruth Morgan of Ironton; grandchildren, J.L. Mick of Proctorville, Veronica Mick, Tami Bailey, and Jay Markel, all of Ironton; Eric Markel and Lindsay Markel, both of South Point; great-grandchildren, Chloe Mick, Chastity Bailey, David Bailey and Laken Markel; and a very special dear friend, Sarah Ann Mabery.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with Brother Dave Schug and Pastor Jim Kimble officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery. Juanita Daniel

Juanita Ruth Daniel, 75, of Ironton, Ohio passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Emeritus Assisted Living Center in Mount Vernon. She was born June 8, 1936, in Ironton, seventh of eight children to the late Oda and Bessie (Pierce) Nance. Juanita was married to the late Jerry Lee Daniel of Ohio Furnace on Aug. 29, 1959; he preceded her in death in 2002.

She is survived by her sons, Scott (Cindy) Daniel, Williamsburg, Va., Brian (Vesta) Daniel, Marengo; two sisters, Rose Caudill of Columbus and Lillian Stauffis of New Hampshire.; sister-in-law, Donna Daniel (Gary) Arthurs of Ohio Furnace; four grandchildren, Connor (Kayla) Daniel of Ohio Furnace, Taylor and Aidan Daniel, Williamsburg, Va. and Sherri (Jeremy) Lyons, Delaware; great-grandchildren, Ava and Xavier Lyons, Delaware; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Juanita graduated from Ironton High School in 1954 and worked as a secretary for the U.S. Department of Energy, the Ohio Farm Bureau, The Ohio State University and retired from Mount Vernon Nazarene University after 29 years of faithful service. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with Pastors Gary Arthurs and Lucian Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Buckeye Cemetery, Ohio Furnace. Norma June Brumfield, 89, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis. Arrangements are pending at Phillips Funeral Home.

Terri Chaffins, 48, of Ironton, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Arrangements are pending at Brown Funeral Chapel.
