PROCTORVILLE — Once Chandler Fulks got comfortable, she made things very uncomfortable for South Point.

Fulks shook off a shaky first inning and pitched a complete game as the Fairland Lady Dragons remained unbeaten with a 10-3 win over the Lady Pointers on Monday in the Ohio Valley Conference opener for both teams.

“Chandler was a little shaky starting off, but she finally settled in and started hitting her spots,” said Fairland coach Joe Auxier. “The girls behind her played great defense and we hit well. Haley Woodall is hitting the ball really well.”

Fulks gave up seven hits, struck out eight and walked three.

Fairland (5-0, 1-0) churned out 11 hits in the win with Haley Woodall going 2-3 with a double and a triple and three runs batted in.

Caitlin Stone and Chelsey Stanley each went 2-4 while McKenzie Riley doubled and drove in three runs.

Brianna Whaley was 2-3 to lead the Lady Pointers.

Rachel Murnahan slammed a home run as South Point took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

Fairland got two runs in the bottom of the inning and took a 4-3 lead with two more runs in the fourth.

The Lady Dragons opened up some breathing room with a six-run sixth inning highlight by Jaimie Phillips’ two-run double and Woodall’s three-run triple.
