SOUTH POINT — Potter power, Davis defense and hot hitting. It was just another way to help the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers get a win.
Rebekkah Potter slammed a pair of home runs and drove in three runs, Emily Davis made a running catch that she turned into a double play, and Ironton had nine hits in an 8-2 win over the South Point Lady Pointers 8-2 on Tuesday.
“Our defense is getting strong every game,” said Ironton coach Missy Fields. “The team is working very hard and I am so proud of their efforts.”
Potter and Jordan Leach were 2-2 and Erin Wetzel went 2-4 and also pitched 6.2 innings to get the win as Ironton improved to 6-2.
“We started hitting in the bottom of the lineup tonight which produced some excitement and RBIs,” said coach Fields.
Potter homered in the first inning after Saige Fields reached on an error as Ironton took a 2-0 lead. She hit a solo shot in the second.
The Lady Tigers scored five times in the fourth inning to put the game out of reach.
Andrea Kleinman was 3-4 with a double and Bonnie Hileman 2-2 with a double to lead the Lady Pointers.
