The Lions Club of Chesapeake, Proctorville and Rome are wearing that number this year as the group celebrates the 45th Lions Club Annual Track and Field Meet.

Area schools will compete starting at 4:30 p.m. on Friday at South Point High School with proceeds from the event aiding several charitable causes including eye exams and eyeglasses for the indigent.

Teams entered in the meet include Chesapeake, Fairland, Ironton, Rock Hill, South Point and Spring Valley.

Besides the competitive events of the meet, those attending will be able to win door prizes that include a 32-inch Vizio LCD television, a $50 I-Tunes gift card, a 5-gallon Igloo roller cooler and a one-year free membership to the Chesapeake Community Center.

Tickets my be purchased in advance from any Lions Club member for $3. Tickets at the gate are $5.
