PEDRO — Jared Bruce just played a game of pitch and catch.

Bruce pitched a five-inning one-hitter as the Rock Hill Redmen blanked the Chesapeake Panthers 10-0 in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Bruce — who also went 2-2 at the plate — struck out two and walked one.

“He pitched a good ball game. He pitched to contact,” said Redmen coach Barry Litteral. “All he has to do is make them put it in play and let the defense work for you.”

After a scoreless first inning, Rock Hill (3-3, 2-0) got seven runs in the second.

Matt Jenkins reached on an error and Jonah Cox, Laden Delawder and Bruce all singled for a run. Ryan Depriest walked for a run, Johnathan Schob singled home two runs and Jack Goodwin tripled in two more.

In the fourth, Bruce singled, stole second and scored on a hit by Depriest. Drew Kidd doubled in a run and Jenkins singed in the final run.
