Garland Kitchen

Garland Lowell Kitchen, 90, of Ironton, passed away Friday April 6, 2012, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. The Dennis, Ky. native was born July 20, 1921, the son of the late Greene and Samantha Tiller Kitchen. He was the widower of Beatrice Osborne Kitchen.

Garland attended Lawrence County, Ky., schools. He was a U.S. Army WWII veteran and he retired after 45 years as a truck criver for Matlack Inc. He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters. Garland is survived by son, Charlie Kitchen of Ironton; and stepdaughter; Charlotte Williams of Ironton.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Highland Memorial Gardens with Rev. Steve Harvey officiating. There will be no visitation. Phillips Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. To offer condolences to the family please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

 

Ralph Early

Ralph Edward Early, 86, of South Point, went to be with the Lord Friday April 6, 2012, in St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was born Dec. 15, 1925, in Huntington, W.Va., to the late Charles H. and Goldie M. Early. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Irma G. Early. Ralph was a WWII Navy veteran, and a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He was a retired village clerk and councilman for the Village of South Point. He was an avid artist and enjoyed painting landscapes. He is survived by his children, Steve (Linda)Early of Sunbury, Janie (Ronnie) Duty of South Point, Danny (Pam) Early of Proctorville and Vickie (Jerry) McKnight of Proctorville; 12 grandchildren, Kim Yates, Christi Kitchen, Cari Johnson, Jeremy McKnight, Alisha Duty, Jennifer Simpkins, Mark Early, Lisa Cleland, Joshua Early, Danae Early, Julie Rutt, and Lori Dykes; 16 great grandchildren; and two brothers. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hall Funeral Home by Brother Tom Ross. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery. Tony Black

Tony Dale Black, 55, of Proctorville, died Thursday, April 5, 2012, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, W.Va. He was the husband of Dayne Lynn Black, who survives. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.

 

William Cannon

William F. Bill Cannon, 87 of Ironton, died at home on Sunday, April 8, 2012. Arrangements are incomplete at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home.
