Betty Davis

Betty Jo Davis, 74, of Pedro, passed away Monday, April 9, 2012, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.

The Haverhill native was born Sept. 4, 1937, the daughter of the late Floyd and Mildred Collins Bruce. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ronald “Ron” Davis.

Betty attended Rock Hill Schools and was a homemaker. She was a former employee of the Lawrence County General Hospital and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Ronda Coleen; a son, Ronald Jeffrey and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Floyd and Mildred Stewart Davis.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Alton Shuff of Ironton; son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Angie Davis of Ironton; a daughter and son-in-law, Denise “Dee” and James Patton of Ironton; special grandchildren, Ashley Paige (Jennings) Estil of Barboursville, W.Va., who was raised in the home, Allison Bramblett, Brady Bramblett, both of Pedro, Kylie Davis of Ironton and Bradley Davis of McDermott; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Carrie Blanton, Elizabeth and Ronnie Lunsford all of Ironton, Janet and Tom Bowman of South Point, and Jane and Mike Lawhorn of Coal Grove; special friends, Mary and the late Tom Goody and Carol and Wayne Bryant.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home with Brother Dave Schug officiating. Burial will follow in Hecla Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Todd Davis, Ronnie Lunsford, Alton Shuff, James Patton, Wayne Bryant, Darrell Davis and honorary pallbearers are Hardy Barker Jr. and Terry Barker. Phillip Earl Thompson, 29, of South Point, died Monday, April 9, 2012, at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home.
