Martin’s pressure hit gives Redwomen win over Rockets

PEDRO — Pressure? What pressure?

Pressure didn’t bother Kenzi Martin whose two-out double in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Rock Hill Redwomen a 5-4 win over the Wellston Lady Golden Rockets on Tuesday.

Brooke Hanshaw singled with one out and Martin delivered her game-winning hit an out later.

Wellston took a 1-0 lead in the second dinning when Tara Brown singled, Sydney Compston put down a sacrifice and Megan Dailey had an RBI single.

Rock Hill (10-4) took the lead with three runs in the third inning.

Lindy Simpson singled and Morgan Damron tripled her home. BreeAnna Depriest singled in a run and Chelsea Harper drilled a run-scoring triple.

The lead went to 4-1 in the firth on singles by Depriest, Harper, Hanshaw and Morgan Schug.

Wellston tied the game with three runs in the sixth.

Taelor Folden reached on a fielder’s choice, moved up on a wild pitch and scored on Brittni Hall’s double.

Brown and Compston singled for a run, Dailey walked and Carissa Darnell hit into a fielder’s choice as the tying run scored.

Rock Hill had 12 hits with Depriest, Harper, Hanshaw and Martin all going 2-4.

Chelsea McManaway and Brown each went 2-4 for Wellston.

Schug got the win in relief of Martin.
