PEDRO — Rock Hill’s Jared Bruce and Drew Kidd know how to work together.

Bruce and Kidd combined on a five-hitter as the Redmen beat the Green Bobcats 7-3 on Thursday in the Rock Hill Wooden Bat Tournament.

Bruce went 5.2 innings striking out nine, walking three and allowing three runs. Kidd needed just 19 pitches to finish up as he struck out two of the four outs.

“Jared threw the ball well. He started to get some balls up in the sixth and Drew came in and shut them down pretty quick,” said Redmen coach Barry Litteral.

Rock Hill (9-3) will play Portsmouth Notre Dame at 3 p.m. on Saturday in the tournament’s title game. Green (8-4) faces New Boston at 1 p.m.

Notre Dame beat New Boston 14-0 in Friday’s first game.

The Redmen went up 1-0 in the first when Ryan Depriest and Kidd walked, moved up on a ground out and Depriest scored on a wild pitch.

Green tied the game in the fourth on a walk to Chris Applegate and a hit by Colton Brammer.

But the Redmen scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 4-1 lead.

Depreist and Kidd singled, moved up ona fly ball by Johnathan Schob, and scored on Matt Jenkins’ base hit. Evan Morris then doubled home Jenkins.

Rock Hill got two more runs in the fifth.

Jonah Cox walked, stole second, went to third on a passed ball and scored on Bruce’s base hit. Depriest sacrificed Bruce to second and he came around to score on a wild pitch.

The Redmen added an insurance run in the sixth when Morris singled and came around on three wild pitches.

Depriest was 2-2, Morris 2-3 and Jenkins 2-4 as Rock Hill had eight hits. Riffitt was 2-3 for the Bobcats.
