Early mistakes prove costly in Lady Panthers’ loss to Spring Valley

SPRING VALLEY, W.Va. — The Chesapeake Lady Panthers had the most hits, but they gave up the most walks.

Despite out-hitting Spring Valley 10-4, the Lady Panthers gave up 11 walks in an 8-5 loss to the Lady Timberwolves on Friday.

Spring Valley used four walks, two hit batsmen, an error and a double to score six times in the first inning. The T-Wolves added two more in the third for an 8-0 lead.

Chesapeake got two runs back in the fifth on a single by Sydnee Hall, a walk to Sarah Rice and RBI singles by Anna Mayo and Caitlin Heffner.

Ali Ransbottom doubled to start a three-run sixth for Chesapeake. Breanna Skeens hit into a fielder’s choice and Hall singled in two runs. Rice walked and Mayo had an RBI hit.

Mayo was 3-4 while Hall and Macy Allen went 2-4.
