PEDRO — As the rock group Bachman Turner Overdrive once sang, “Taking Care of Business.”

Johnathan Joseph threw a five-hitter and the Redmen combined six hits, nine walks and three hit batsmen to take care of business as they beat the Portsmouth Notre Dame Titans 10-0 in five innings on Saturday to win their own wooden bat tournament.

“We came out and played and got the job done. It was all business,” said Rock Hill coach Barry Litteral. “It’s nice to win your own tournament.”

After a scoreless first inning, Rock Hill (10-3) took a 3-0 lead in the second inning.

Matt Jenkins walked, Evan Morris put down a sacrifice and Jack Goodwin had an RBI double. Goodwin went to third on a passed ball, Joseph walked and stole second and Jared Bruce had a two-run single.

A run scored in the third when Drew Kidd was hit by a pitch, went to second on a balk and scored on Johnathan Schob’s base hit.

The lead went to 5-0 in the fourth when Bruce beat out an infield hit and Ryan Depriest, Kidd and Schob all walked.

The Redmen ended the game with five runs in the fifth.

Morris and Goodwin walked, Jonah Cox and Joseph were hit by pitches for a run, Bruce hit into a fielder’s choice for a run, Kidd singled in a run and Jenkins ended the game with a two-run single.
