PROCTORVILLE — The only score these two teams seem to know is 3-2.

Earlier this season, Gallipolis beat the Fairland Dragons 3-2. On Tuesday, the Dragons returned the favor with a 3-2 win over the Blue Devils.

Matt Aliff struck out two, walked three and gave up just four hits in going the distance for Fairland.

Jimmy Clagg also pitched a four-hitter for Gallipolis (12-4). He fanned six and walked four.

“Aliff threw 60 to 70 percent curveballs, but he kept the ball down and he spotted the ball well,” said Fairland coach Bryan Ward. “We made the plays defensively. That was big.”

Ty Warnimont and John Faro doubled as Gallipolis took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. It went to 2-0 in the second when Brady Curry was hit by a pitch, moved up on a ground out and scored on an outfield error.

Fairland (9-3) scored all three of its runs in the third inning.

Alex Thompson walked, Blaine Fuller singled and Eric Riley had a sacrifice bunt. Corey Barker tripled in the runners and scored what proved to be the winning run on a squeeze bunt by Alex Thackston.

The Dragons host Greenup County on Tuesday.
