Rockslide forces U.S. 52 closure at Ashland bridges

U.S. Route 52 West in Lawrence County has been reduced to one lane at the Ashland-Coal Grove bridges just east of Coal Grove, due to a rock slide. The (right) driving lane of the route is closed in the westbound direction. Both eastbound lanes of the route remain open at this time.

A bench cleaning project is under way, and contractors are working at various locations between S.R. 93 at Ironton and Lick Creek Road in Perry Township to clear rock and debris from the hillside.

Additional lane restrictions will be in place within the construction zone during the next two weeks, including intermittent periods of closure of U.S. 52 at Crabtree Hollow Road in which both east and westbound lanes will be closed for intervals of up to 20 minutes between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., weekdays.

Motorists are advised to exercise additional caution within the project area.
