SOUTH POINT — The South Point Lady Pointers have come close to pulling off upsets all season.
On Wednesday, they got the cigar.
The Lady Pointers dealt Fairland its first Ohio Valley Conference loss as they beat the Lady Dragons 2-1.
South Point scored both runs in the bottom of the first inning when Hannah Carey doubled, Rachel Murnahan singled and Andi Kleinman tripled.
Fairland (10-4, 6-1) tied the game in the fourth inning when Jaimie Phillips reach on an error, went to third base on two errors and scored on Haley Woodall’s sacrifice bunt.
Fairland – now tied with Rock Hill for first place in the OVC — left a total of 10 runners on base while South Point stranded four.
Kaitlin Brown got the win for South Point as she pitched a two-hitter. Chandler Fulks took the loss as she allowed just five hits, struck out nine and walked one.
