PEDRO — Rock Hill played well in all three phases of the game and the final score reflected their play.

Sami Nixon pitched a one-hitter, the offense had 14 hits and the defense did not make an error as the Redwomen blanked the River Valley Lady Raiders 9-0 Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

“We played good defense. No errors always means good defense. Cheslea Harper had two great plays at shortstop,” said Rock Hill coach Mary Jane Harper. “Sami pitched a great game and we also hit the ball really well.”

Nixon struck out eight and walked three in going the distance.

Offensively Kenzi Martin was 3-4, BreeAnna Depriest 3-3, Chelsea Harper 2-3 and Morgan Damron and Brooke Hanshaw 2-4 each.

Damron, Depriest and Harper singled for a run in the first inning.

Two runs scored in the fourth inning to make it 3-0.

Hanshaw singled, Schug walked, Martin singled and Lindy Simpson hit into a fielder’s choice. Eastham singled in the second run.

Rock Hill scored three runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Depriest had another bunt single to start the fifth, Hanshaw reched on an error, Morgan Schug singled and Martin singled in a run.

The next two runs scored on errors.

In the sixth, Depriest and Harper singled, Hanshaw doubled home the runners and came home on Martin’s base hit.

Coupled with Fairland’s loss to South Point, Rock Hill moved into a tie for first place in the OVC with the Lady Dragons.

Rock Hill plays at Coal Grove on Monday.
