Green routs Panthers

FRANKLIN FURNACE — Everybody got into the act.

Green utilized its roster in a 13-3 Southern Ohio Conference win over the Portsmouth Clay Panthers on Wednesday.

“We had some really good at-bats from all our kids. We got contributions from the whole team,” said Green coach Dan McDavid. “I thought Clay (Applegate) pitched a solid game.”

Applegate came on in the first inning and got credit for five innings of work. He gave up two hits, struck out two and walked one.

Clay got a run in the first but Green (16-5, 10-2) erupted for nine in the second.

Cody Bruce doubled, Adam Riffitt had an RBI single, Matt Howard tripled for a run and Caleb Johnson singled in Howard.

Johnson moved up on a wild pitched and Mike Avery had an RBI single. Clay Applegate reached on an error, Rob Applegate had an RBI single, Colton BRammer singled, Bruce was safe on an error and Steve Ratcliff had a two-run double.

The Bobcats got four runs in the fifth when Andrew Otworth, Chris Vestal, Kyle Schwab, Trevor Kronk, Jacob Blevins and Chris Allen all walked and Luke Eskridge had a walk-off RBI single.
