Everett Rice

Everett Ray Rice, 60, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away on Friday, April 27, 2012, at 9:00 a.m. at his residence. He was born on June 15, 1951, in Ashland, Ky., to the late Cecil Rice and Ella (Taylor) Rice. He was married to Virginia Riggle, who preceded him in death.

He graduated from South Point High School. He worked in the landscaping business until moving to Warsaw in 1978. He was employed at White Metals in Warsaw until 1985. He worked at Splendor Boat Company in Silver Lake, Ind., for the past 12 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and canoeist, and he loved his dog Sadie.

He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Lee Rice of La Jolla, Calif.; three brothers (all of Warsaw); Kenneth (wife Tracy) Rice, Mark Rice and Jay (wife Patty) Rice, all of Warsaw; and two sisters, Sharon Rice and Susan Rice, both of South Point. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. His funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, 802 Solida Road, South Point and officiated by Pastor Bob Chaffins. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point.  Acy Knipp

Acy Knipp, 86, of Ironton, died Saturday, April 28, 2012, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland Ky. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with Elders Leonard Napier, Gary Blevins, and Jimmy Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Roar Cemetery, Grahn, Ky. He was born May 9, 1925, in Grahn, Carter County, Ky., a son of the late James Harrison Knipp and Nancy Elizabeth Barker Knipp. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Castle Knipp; brothers and sisters Ethel Knipp, Paul Knipp, Edith Knipp, Ruth Bledsoe, Esther Knipp, Thurman Knipp, Lawrence Knipp, Ellen Bryant and Richard Knipp; and sons Philip Knipp and Jerry Klaiber. Acy was a 38-year employee of the Dayton Malleable Iron Co., a member of the South Fork Old Regular Baptist Church, and was an ordained deacon. He is survived by his wife Betty Gibson Klaiber Knipp; five sons, Roger Knipp of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Richard (Janie) Knipp of Ironton, Timothy (Sherry) Knipp of Summitt, Ky., Charles (Helen) Klaiber of Ironton, Billie (Tana) Klaiber of Ironton, two daughters-in law, Patricia Klaiber of Ironton and Debbie Knipp of Cannonsburg, Ky.; two daughters, Connie Payne of Flatwoods, Ky. and Debbie (Rick) Perkins of Ironton; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Billie L. (Kay) Gibson; three sisters-in-law, Gladys Keeney, Olive Brammer and Jessie Gibson; and a group of loving brothers and sisters from the church. Joe Moore

Joe E. Moore, 66, of Ironton, passed away Sunday April 29, 2012, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Ironton native was born May 29, 1945, the son of the late Edgar and Edith Rucker Moore. He is survived by his wife, Vivian Jo (Sue) Kerns Moore, whom he married April 11, 1987. Joe was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and retired in 2007 after 42 years of service with the Armco Steel Company, where he worked in the Masonry Department. He was a member of the Moose Lodge 701. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd E. “Buddy” Moore. In addition to his wife, he is survived by son and daughter-in-law Jeremy and Kayla Moore of Ironton; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Beth Taylor of Ironton; daughter, Cheryl Caplinger of Ironton; daughter and son-in-law, Linda Fout and Darrell Eaches of South Point; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Faye and John Drain of Hyattsville, Md., Betty and Lon Fraley, Phyllis and Ken Ackison, all of Ironton; a sister-in-law, Mary Moore of Ironton; five grandchildren, Amanda Fout of South Point, Rynlee Moore, Roman Moore, Ryan Caplinger and Tyler Taylor, all of Ironton; and a great grandchild, Emma Jo Waugh. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South Seventh Street, Ironton, Ohio with Pastor Eric Barnes officiating. June Burriss

June Christy Burriss, 88, of Worthington, Ky., died Sunday, April 29, 2012, at King’s Daughters Medical Center. She is the wife of Joe Burriss, who survives. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Evans Funeral Home in Raceland, Ky., with the Rev. Frank Wallace. Entombment will be in the Lewis County Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Vanceburg, Ky., Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. today.

 

Michael Hailey

Michael Irvin Hailey, 61, of Pedro, died Friday, April 20, 2012, at his home. Services will be conducted at a later date. Phillips Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Minnie Fuller

Minnie Mae Fuller, 82, of Proctorville, died Sunday, April 29, 2012, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, W.Va.
