AID — For the Coal Grove Lady Hornets, 14 seemed to be the key number.

The Lady Hornets collected 14 hits and beat the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings 14-4 on Monday.

Gabbie Carpenter was 3-4 with a double and a run batted in and Kaitlyn Murphy also went 3-4 with an RBI to lead the Lady Hornets.

Leah Crum waws 2-4 with two RBI and Deanna Bentley and Shelby Haynes each went 2-4 while Kelci Grove and McKayla Truesdell were 1-4. Truesdell also had a double.

Groves picked up the win as she struck out seven, gave up six hits and did not walk a batter.

Hannah Maynard, Katie Hill, Autum Keathley, Abby Walden and Brenna Morris all went 1-2 and Hannah Roach was 1-3 for Symmes Valley.

Coal Grove played at St. Joseph on Tuesday and Portsmouth on Wednesday. The final home game in Thursday against Ironton on Senior Night.
