Agnes Lightner

Agnes Blanche Lightner, 97, of Ironton, went to be with the Lord, Saturday April 28, 2012, in Lilburn, Ga. The Lawrence County native was born Sept. 20, 1914, the daughter of the late Edgar Sr. and Lilly Delawder Shore. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Hager Lightner, who passed away Nov. 8, 1984. Mrs. Lightner attended Ironton High School for a while but was a 1932 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School. She was a former employee of Henrites Shoe Factory and a homemaker. She attended the Centenary United Methodist Church, where she was active in the United Methodist Women’s Club. She was a former active Grange member and was active at the Senior Citizens Center in Ironton. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edgar Shore Jr. and Carmie Shore. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jerolyn and James Randles of Lilburn; a granddaughter, Nicole and her husband, Mark C. Redstrom of Sugar Hill, Ga.; great grandchildren, Sarah Ashley Redstrom and Charles David Redstrom; a sister, Irene Wickline of Ironton; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Strawn officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be Saturday from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. James Hughes

James “Bimbo” Hughes, 58, of Coal Grove, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Ironton native was born Jan. 13, 1954, the son of the late Raymond and Ethel Royce Hughes. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Lee Dutcher Hughes, whom he married April 1, 1973. Mr. Hughes attended Paul Blazer High School and was a plumber’s assistant for Dave Barthelomew. He enjoyed talking on the CB radio where he was known as “Blue Boy.” In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl “TBird” Edward Hughes and Harley Leo Hughes. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Brandi Hughes and Mike Barnett of Ashland, Ky.; two sons, James Hughes II and his wife, Missy and Donald Hughes and his wife, Jamie, both of Coal Grove; two sisters, Jo Ann Runyon and Fern Wise both of Ironton; a brother, Donald Hughes of Ironton; and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be 6 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with Dr. Ronnie Mays officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home.. Robert Parsons

Robert Henry Parsons, 80, of Millcreek W.Va., died Saturday, May 5, 2012, at the VA Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. He was the husband of Betty Parsons, who survives. Graveside services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Flagsprings Cemetery with military graveside rights held by the VFW Pastors Keith Eblen and Bill McDaniels will be officiating the service. Wayne Boggs

Wayne Anthony Boggs, 59, of Proctorville, died Monday, May 7, 2012, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was the husband of Rhonda Boggs, who survives. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Miller Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation.
