A Kitts Hill woman received the maximum prison sentence for robbery Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Winona Delawder, 39, of 112 County Road 105, pleaded guilty to the second-degree charge through her attorney Marty Stillpass.

According to Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Brigham Anderson, Delawder pushed an 80-year-old woman down in her own home and robbed her of $300. The incident happened back in December.

Anderson also said Delawder had prior felony convictions, including a robbery conviction.

Judge Charles Cooper sentenced Delawder to the maximum penalty, eight years in prison, and ordered her to pay court costs. Delawder was given credit for time served.

“I would just like to apologize for the crime I committed,” Delawder said before sentencing.

In other cases:

• A Pedro man answered charges that he allegedly owes $23,000 in back child support for three children.

William Wilburn, 37, of 342 County Road 51, was arraigned on three counts of fifth-degree criminal non-support and three counts of misdemeanor criminal non-support.

Wilburn pleaded not guilty through his attorney, Scott Evans.

Cooper set bond at $10,000 cash or surety and scheduled a pretrial for May 23.

• Kevin Canterberry, 47, of 77 Township Road 1503, Chesapeake, had his bond increased for testing positive for oxycodone.

Adult Probation Officer Jonathan Sexton said Canterberry had several prescription bottles with him at the drug test, but none of them would account for a positive urine test for oxycodone.

“Kevin insists he does not take oxycodone anymore,” said Chris Delawder, Canterberry’s attorney.

Delawder said his client takes pain medication for a variety of health issues, but did not test positive for any illicit substances such as marijuana or cocaine.

“Unfortunately, oxy’s are what are killing people in the county at a much faster rate,” Cooper said.

Cooper increased Canterberry’s bond to $50,000.

• Bobby Effingham, 40, of 403 Fourth St. East, Apt. 19, South Point, tested positive for cocaine. Cooper increased Effingham’s bond to $130,000 cash, surety or real estate and scheduled a pretrial for May 23.

• Matthew Moon, 33, of 174 Township Road 251, South Point, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of improperly handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle.

The charge was amended from third-degree having weapons under a disability.

Cooper sentenced Moon to 180 days in the county jail, suspended, 200 hours of community service and three years probation.

Moon was represented by attorney David Reid Dillon.

• Joshua Church, 32, of 7928 Paddle Creek Road Catlettburg, Ky., was arraigned on one count of fifth-degree forgery.

Church pleaded not guilty though his attorney, David Reid Dillon.

Cooper set bond at $10,000 cash or surety and scheduled a pretrial for May 23.

• Paul Johnson, 42, of 1853 Township Road 141, Willow Wood, denied a community-controlled sanctions violation through his attorney Mike Davenport.

Cooper scheduled a trial for May 16.

• Steven Price, 38, of 674 Country Club Estates, Greenup, Ky., admitted to a CCS violation through his attorney Samantha Fields.

Price violated the terms of his CCS by not paying restitution.

Cooper extended Price’s CCS two years and ordered him to pay $600 per month towards the restitution.
