PROCTORVLLE — Chelsey Stanley is in the zone. The hitting zone.

Stanley went 3-4 with a pair of triples and a run batted in as the Fairland Lady Dragons beat the Coal Grove Lady Hornets 11-1 in five innings on Wednesday in the Division III sectional tournament.

“Chelsey Stanley just keeps hitting the ball. She had another big game,” said Fairland coach Joe Auxier.

Fairland (17-7) hosts Ironton at 5 p.m. Friday in the sectional finals.

Fairland jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning.

Stanley tripled and scored when Jaimie Phillips reached on an error. Phillips stole second, moved to third on a passed ball and scored on Mackenzie Riley’s base hit.

Coal Grove cut the deficit to 2-1 in the top of the third when Abby Harmon hit into a fielder’s choice and scored on Kaitlynn Murphy’s single.

The Lady Dragon got the run back in the bottom of the inning. Riley singled with two outs, went to third on a stolen base and passed ball and came home when Haley Woodall reached on an error.

Fairland blew the game open with six runs in the fourth inning.

Ellen Hinshaw walked moved up on a pair of passed balls and scored on a hit by Kerie Napier. After another passed ball, Caitlin Stone was safe on an error and both runners scored on Stanley’s base hit.

Chandler Fulks had a bunt single, Riley was hit by a pitch, the runners moved up on a passed ball and Hinshaw had a two-run single.

Fairland ended the game with two runs in the fifth inning.

Stanley had a one-out triple and scored on a passed ball. Phillips walked, took second on a passed ball and scored when Riley got a hit off the fence.
