Ironton In Bloom, Inc. recently honored Lawrence County Department of Job and Family Services, 1100 S. Seventh St. with their Business of the Month Award.
This award is given to businesses who make the effort to make their exterior and interior clean, welcoming, and attractive.
Tim Johnson, a member of the Ironton In Bloom Business Committee, presented the award to Gene Myers, DJFS.
Myers says Joe Ferguson, an employee, does all the work in keeping the large yard that stretches from Sixth St. to Seventh streets in excellent shape. Formerly a school building, Myers says he feels an obligation to the surrounding residences to make the building and grounds an asset within the neighborhood. The landscape plan includes preserving all the large trees possible, and adding new ones where old ones had to be removed. Day lilies, a variety of shrubs, and a carefully manicured lawn complete the pleasing effect on all four sides of the renovated building.
The business committee is now accepting nominations for Business of the Month. If you would like to submit a business, send its name and address to Irontoninbloom@zoominternet.net or mail a card to Ironton In Bloom, Box 4599, Ironton.
