Ruby Justice

Ruby Lois Kingery Justice, 83, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Cedarville native was born Oct. 31, 1928, the daughter of the late Gerald Franklin Kingery and Bessie Marie Myers Kingery. She was the widow of Kenneth Justice.

Ruby was a 1945 graduate of Waterloo High School and graduated from Marshall University with a bachelor of education degree. She retired from the Symmes Valley School District after teaching 30 years. She was also a substitute teacher for Rock Hill Schools and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Ellis Levon Kingrey.

Ruby is survived by daughter, Veronica Kay Justice of Ironton; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Charles Saunders of Ironton; brother and sister-in-law, Merrill and Patty Kingery of Lakeside Village, Texas; sister-in-law, Amanda Lewis of Proctorville; brother-in-law and his wife, Everett and Maxine Justice of Ironton; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Matt O’Bryant and the Rev. David Saunders officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Donations may be made in Ruby’s name to Calvary Baptist Church, 413 Quincy St., Ironton, OH 45638. Leva Smith

Leva Olive Smith, 94, of Chesapeake, died Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at the Hospice House of Huntington.

Leva was born June 10, 1918, in Wakefield, Mich., a daughter of the late Benjamin and Rebecca Davidson Fraley. She was a 1936 graduate of Chesapeake High School and member of the Chesapeake Church of the Nazarene. She was a homemaker and active member of the Chesapeake community and enjoyed working on Election Day. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband David W. Smith; one sister, Verna Greene; and three brothers, Ray, Bert and Ben Fraley.

Leva is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Terrill and David L. Schaub of Lobo, Mont., and one foster daughter, Lynn Hensley of Chesapeake; four grandchildren, Stephanie Welch, Seth Schaub, Brooke Hensley and Taylor Hensley; and two great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery. Sonny Miller

Sonny R. Miller, 62, of Powell, died Thursday June 14, 2012, at the Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware, Ohio. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Tracy Brammer – Monroe Funeral Home.
