CHESAPEAKE — The identity of the Chesapeake school employee who was the focus of a special school board meeting remains a mystery.
On June 7, the board met in special session to address a resolution “on whether to consider the employment/compensation of a school official.”
The board, meeting at the board office, went into a closed session for approximately 30 minutes. When the board came back into public session, it voted four to one not to adopt the resolution.
School board president Kim Oxley said via email that she could not “confirm that any particular employee was the topic of discussion at that meeting as that information was discussed in executive session, as required by board policy. … No school official was named nor were any details discussed in public session.”
School board members David Bennett, Jeanne Harmon and Jerry Frye did not return multiple telephone calls. Board member Carl Lilly said he could not comment on the meeting.
School Superintendent Dr. Scott Howard did not attend the special meeting.
