Velsia Carrico

Velsia Virginia Carrico, 87, of South Point, died Saturday, June 16, 2012, in Heartland of Riverview. Funeral services will be noon Thursday at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel Beaver officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point. Velsia was born Nov. 26, 1924, in Cabell County, W.Va., a daughter of the late John Ross and Fannie Ethel Legg Smith. She was a graduate of Chesapeake High School in 1943 and a retired LPN from Lawrence County General Hospital. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John William Carrico; one sister, Pearl Webb; and one brother, Randall Smith. Velsia is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Deirdre Carrico; two grandchildren and their spouses, John Scott and Sharon Carrico, and Rhonda Renee and John Richard Lusher; three great grandchildren, Matthew Lusher, Kasey Carrico, and Ryan Carrico; four sisters, Carolyn Sue Nance, Edna Mae Strawser, Doll Crabtree, and Nellie Mullins; and two brothers, Daniel Smith and Lester Gene Smith. Mary Lou Coburn

Mary Lou Coburn, 69 of Pedro, died Monday, June 18, 2012, at Southern Ohio Hospice, Portsmouth. Funeral services will be held Thursday at Symmes Valley Freewill Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Aid Cemetery. Mary was born June 28, 1942, in Branchland, W.Va., a daughter of the late Dustin and Erma Franklin. Mary is survived by her husband, Kenneth R. Coburn Sr., whom she wed Oct. 15, 1961. She is also survived by her three children, Theresa Lynn, Kenneth Ray, Jr.; his wife, Lisa along with their two sons, KC and Nathanael, and Mary’s youngest son, Carl Alan. She is also survived by her sisters, Arleda Fraley, Eleanor McCarty, Connie McCarty, Karen Littlejohn and Carrie Franklin; and her brothers, Ronald Franklin and David Franklin. Gloria Snyder

Gloria Ann Snyder, 75, of Huntington, W.Va., died Monday, June 18, 2012, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington.

Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, by Rev. Eddie Salmons. Burial will follow in Crown City, Cemetery. Linville Yates

Linville Harold Yates, 88, of Flatwoods, Ky., died Monday, June 18, 2012, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. Funeral will be held at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods Friday at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Palmer Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 6-9pm at the funeral home. Charles Frecka

Charles “Jack” Frecka, 83, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Ironton native was born Aug. 27, 1928, the son of the late Chauncey and Luella King Frecka. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margaret Boop Frecka, whom he married Nov. 27, 1953.

Jack was a graduate of Ironton High School and a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a former mail carrier for the USPS in Ironton and also worked with his dad in the family plumbing business, Frecka Plumbing. He was a member of Central Christian Church in Ironton and was an avid bowler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Fred Frecka and Ralph Frecka

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son: Chauncey Todd Frecka of Ironton; a daughter and son-in-law: Jacqualyn “Jackie” and Shayne Price of Ironton; four grandchildren: Tanner Price, Logan Price, Channing Frecka and Karson Frecka all of Ironton; two sisters-in-law: Jean Frecka of Ironton and Vicki Frecka of Coal Grove; and several nieces and nephews

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Woodland Cemetery Veterans Section with military rites VFW Post 8850 and Minister Brent Baker officiating. There will be no public visitation.
