Phyllis Richmond

Phyllis Emma McKnight Richmond, 87, of Coal Grove, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at the King’s Daughter Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. The Ironton native was born March 6, 1925 the daughter of the late Charles and Bessie Stewart McKnight.

Mrs. Richmond was a 1943 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School.  She was a former sales clerk for Sears in Ashland, Ky. and former employee of the First National Bank in Ironton and Western Southern Life Insurance Co.  Phyllis was a Christian and served her Lord and Savior for many years at Zoar Baptist Church where she was active in the choir and “Ladies Loving Hands.” She was one of the original members of the Silvertones that later became known as the Zoar Quartet.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Paula Richmond;

her sister, Pauline Fisher Fields; and five brothers, Kenneth, Chester, Wilbur, Bernard, and Curtis McKnight.

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd N. Richmond whom she married July 28, 1951;

daughter and son-in-law, Tamara and Dennis Smith of Barboursville, W.Va.; and

granddaughter, Kelsey Koch-Smith also of Barboursville, W.Va.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Beals and Dr. Kevin Willis officiating.  Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.  Friends may call Friday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.  Donations can be made to the Zoar Baptist Church, 1009 Marion Pike, Coal Grove, OH 45638.  To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.tracybrammerfh.com
