Julia Butcher
Julia Ann Butcher (Ward), 69, of South Point, went to be with her Jesus on Sunday, July 8, 2012. Julia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother (Gran) who loved her Saviour and her church. She doted on her kids and grandkids, loved spending time with her family, and cherished working with the students at Burlington Elementary.
Julia was born at Saint Mary’s in Huntington, WV, the daughter of the late Carl Wesley and Sarah (Crum) Ward. She was preceded in passing by her husband of 51 years, Billy Raymond Butcher.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Thomas) Cantrell and son Billy (Tonya) Butcher of Evansville, Ind.; six grandchildren, Brian Douglas, Joshua, Alaina, and Ava Cantrell, Rian (Jessica) and Billy Butcher; a loving brother Carl Danny (Patty) Ward and her best friend and sister-in-law Linda (Dave) Lester and a host of family and friends.
A memorial will be at 6:30 p.m. today at Apostolic Life Cathedral, 350 Staunton St., Huntington, W.Va., with Pastor E.S. Harper officiating. Michael Petty
Michael Petty, 29, of Ironton, died Monday, July 9, 2012 at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. He was the husband of Bonnie Petty, who survives. Funeral will be 8 p.m. Friday in the chapel of the Brown Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Heaverlin officiating. Keeping with his wishes he was cremated and memorial donations should be made directly to the chapel to help his wife with funeral expenses. Wilma Bare
Wilma Marie Bare, 84, of Ironton, passed Tuesday July 10, 2012, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Scioto County native was born Feb. 26, 1928, the daughter of the late Willard and Irene Roof Markins.
Mrs. Bare was a graduate of Pedro High School and the St. Mary’s School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse at the former Lawrence County General Hospital for over 30 years and was a member of Central Christian Church in Ironton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Bare in 1981 and five brothers, Arthur Markins, Rick Markins, Gary Markins, Glenn Markins, and John D. Markins.
She is survived by her son, David Bare of Ironton; her daughter and son in law, Dianne and Jim Goldenberg of Lakeworth, Fla.; five grandchildren, Tyra Hoffman, Brittney McCabe, Ellen Fields, Alex Bare and Emma Bare; one great grandchild, Truitt Fields; a sister, Thelma Shope of Ironton; two brothers, Paul Markins of Napoleon and Harold Markins of Wilmington, N.C. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and her special caregivers Kathy Knipp and Tammy Hanshaw.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Markins officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Juanita Mae Dodd
Juanita Mae Dodd, 84, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, passed away Monday, July 9, 2012 at Edgewood Manor Nursing Facility, Lucasville. She was born Feb. 29, 1928, in Coal Grove, the daughter of the late Harry and Edna (Bush) Clark.
Juanita graduated from Coal Grove High School and retired as a telephone operator from the Ohio Bell Telephone Company after over 30 years of service. She was a member of Community Tabernacle Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Dodd, Sr. who died in 2001; two sisters, Pauline Bateman, Helen Lucas and six brothers, Johnnie Clark, Arvil Clark, Harry Clark Jr., Richard Clark, Carl Clark, and Keith Clark.
She is survived by a step-son, Frank Jr. (Jean) Dodd of Marion; a step-daughter, Helen Virginia Ingles of Tampa, Fla.; three grandsons, Gary Dale Ingles of Tampa, Fla., Bryan Dodd of Marion, Brad (Kim) Dodd also of Marion; two great-grandsons, Corey and Alex Dodd of Marion; one great-granddaughter, Isabella Dodd of Marion and 13 nieces and nephews.

Larry Miller
Larry H. Miller, 63, of South Point, died Sunday, July 8, 2012, in Heartland of Jackson. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point. Burial will follow. Brandon Lucas
Brandon Lucas Bailey, 28, of Raceland, Ky., died Monday, July 9, 2012, at Grayson Lake in Elliott County, Ky. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Pentecostal Holiness Tabernacle in Flatwoods, Ky., with the Revs. Lloyd L. Bailey and J. E. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Hutchinson Family Cemetery in Ashland, Ky.

Earl Lawless
Earl “Doug” Lawless, 55, of Ironton, passed away Monday, July 9, 2012, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Ironton Campus.
The Lawrence County native was born Dec.6, 1956, the son of Sylvia Sisler Lawless of Coryville and the late Earl C. Lawless. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Heaberlin Lawless, whom he married June 22, 1979.
Doug was a 1975 graduate of Rock Hill High School and an employee of Jo Lin Health Center for 37 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the V.F.W. He loved camping, his Canada fishing trips and working on cars.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, John and Alphine Griffith Sisler; paternal grandparents, Grover and Ida Myrtle Lawless and an aunt, Donna Carpenter.
In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by three brothers, Faron and Kathi Lawless of Coryville, Randy and Monica Lawless of Greenup, Ky., and Rex Lawless and Jenifer of Coryville; three sisters, Dinah Scott of Coryville, Judene Lawless and Gary of Pedro, and Cecilia and Neil Reynolds of Athens; his cat, Roxie; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Butch Deer Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Ronald White
Ronald Emerson White, 75, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Ironton, Ohio passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012. The Lawrence County, native was born Nov. 17, 1936, the son of the late Emerson White and Hazel Stumbo White.
Ronald was a graduate of Waterloo High School and was a retired condominium manager. He was an avid hunter and a mason. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Lois Katros, Betty Hairston, Sharon White and Treva White and a brother, Wayne White.
He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Rena and Dan Fulks, of Chesapeake; a sister-in-law, Neomia White of Coal Grove; a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Theresa of Kingsport, Tenn., a daughter, Janice White of Sarasota, Fla.; daughter, Jeanne Sigmon of Sarasota, Fla.; six grandchildren, Adam Anderson of Norfolk, Va., Amber Bickner of Sarasota, Fla., Lacey Sigmon also of Sarasota, Alaina Sigmon also of Sarasota, Amy Stout of Kingsport, Tenn., Ryan White also of Kingsport, and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m.. Friday at Woodland Cemetery with Pastor Dean Fulks officiating. There will be no visitation. Phillips Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Corrine Gillum
Corrine (Buskirk) Gillum, 83, of Ironton, passed away Monday, July 9, 2012, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. She was born March 5, 1929, in Martin County, Ky., the daughter of the late Nathaniel T. and Ethel (Ray) Buskirk.
Corrine attended Martin County Schools, she was retired from Bellevue Hospital where she worked as a houskeeper. She was a member of Woodland Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Gillum who died in 1968; five brothers, Homer Buskirk, Bill Jack Buskirk, Jim Tom Buskirk, John L. Buskirk, Warnie Buskirk; and one sister, Edna Dieterle.
She is survived by one daughter, Karen (Jim) Featheringill of Willard; three sons, Leland T. (Cathy) Spears of Ironton, James J. (Yong) Gillum of Anchorage, Alaska, and Dwayne E. Gillum of Ironton; four sisters, Monica Horn of Inez, Ky., Una-Faye (Gary) Chaney of Ironton, Phyllis Dean of Mansfield, Ruth (Henry) Zima of North Carolina; one brother, Robert (Christine) Buskirk of Louisa, Ky.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be noon Sept. 1, 2012 at theTracy Brammer – Monroe Funeral Home, with Pastor Dave Schug officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-noon on the day of the service.
