Frances Asberry

Frances Asberry, 77, of Ironton, passed away Friday, July 20, 2012, at her home.

She was born April 29, 1935, a daughter of the late Katherine Brooks and Lark Kirby. Frances was a loving mother and was of the Christian faith.

She was preceded in death by two sons, James Lawrence Lewis and Thomas Gregory Lewis; one daughter, Janet Lynn Lewis, one sister, Leatrice Cochran; and three aunts, Augustine Smith, Gladys Henderson and Katherine England.

She is survived by her husband at home, Larry Asberry; eight sons, Ervin Woodrow Lewis and his wife Kay of Michigan, Donald Ray Lewis Jr., Jeffrey Lee Lewis, Johnny Ray Lewis, Calvin J. Lewis, Joseph Lewis all of Ironton, and Kim Nathane Lewis and his wife Pauletta of Huntington, W.Va.; a special grandson whom she raised as her own, Dale Spencer and his wife Kayla of Ironton; four daughters, Karen Holroyd and her husband Bob, Donna Gail Spencer, Mary Keith and her husband Joe, all of Ironton, and Marilyn Mize of Michigan; a special granddaughter whom she spent a lot of time with enjoying each other’s company, Kimberly Lewis of Huntington, W.Va. Frances also leaves to mourn her passing 53 grandchildren and a host of family and friends. She was a devoted wife and mother that will be sadly missed.

A celebration of life and home-going funeral service will be conduct at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Brown Funeral Chapel with Pastor Gary Edwards officiating. Keeping with Frances wishes she will be cremated. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of services at the funeral chapel.
