Janie McClain

Janie Lou McClain, 51, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Ironton native was born July 26, 1961, the daughter of the late Thelbert and Mary Bostic McClain.

Janie attended the Open Door School and was a former employee at Tri-State Industries. She attended the City Mission Church in Ironton.

She is survived by five brothers and two sisters-in-law, Eugene “Bud” McClain, James Richard McClain, Steve A. McClain and Brent and Debbie McClain all of Ironton and Howard and Karen McClain of Cleveland, Tenn.; four sisters and two brothers-in-law: Peggy and Mike Keating, Tammie McClain, Paula and Mike Eastham all of Ironton and Patricia Russell of Florida; a special friend, Janet James of Ironton; several nieces and nephews and a half brother, Leon Myers of Newark, Ohio.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Cremeans and the Rev. Leon Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday noon until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Bud McClain, Jim McClain, Brent McClain, Howard McClain, Mike Eastham, and Jimmy Whisman. Donald Hixon

Donald G. Hixon, 73, of Franklin Furnace, passed away Wednesday Aug. 1, 2012, at the Best Care Nursing Home in Wheelersburg. The Ironton native was born Oct. 18, 1938, the son of the late Everett and Clara Edna Smith Hixon. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruth Pierce Hixon, whom he married Nov. 19, 1956.

Mr. Hixon was a graduate of Ironton High School. He was a former mail carrier for the United States Postal Service and attended the Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed fishing, Ironton football, watching the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Browns. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jo Ann Vaughn and Olive Cleora Hixon; a brother-in-law, Jocko Vaughn and three nephews, Jockie Vaughn, David Vaughn, and Bob Vaughn.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Debbie Hixon of Ironton; a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Tina Hixon of Circleville; a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Tim Yaniko of Ironton; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Angie Hixon of Circleville; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Tim McKnight of Ironton; 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Woodland Cemetery with Debbie Hixon officiating. There will be no public visitation. Jeffrey Percy

In loving memory of Jeffrey Dean Percy, 42, of South Point, who went on to be with his Father in Heaven on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012, from the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington, W.Va.

Jeffrey was born March 15, 1970, in Norwalk, Conn. He was a former member of the U.S. Air Force having served in the Gulf War. While living in Cary, N.C., he volunteered with St. Baldrick’s Foundation Children with Cancer and also with Lance Armstrong Cancer Research. Jeffrey is survived by his mother and father, Vickie and Alvin Nolte; his older brother, James and his family; his sister, Mary Cerullo and her family; and lots of loving family and friends. There will be no visitation or services. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home, Chesapeake, is handling arrangements. Hazel Elliott

Mary Hunt

Mary Opal Hunt, 79, of Huntington, W.Va., died Tuesday July 31, 2012, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington, W.Va. Funeral will be noon Saturday at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville by Pastor Jason Morris. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. -noon Saturday the funeral home. Bernie Thompson
