When it meets at 6 p.m. Thursday, Ironton City Council will consider a light agenda — exactly one item is on the board for discussion.

Council will consider giving first reading to an ordinance to ask for bids on a new grit collector system and mechanical bar screen at the wastewater treatment plant. The ordinance is for both the purchase and installation of the equipment.

The grit collector system and bar screen are on the list of deficiencies at the city’s sewer plant by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. According to the ordinance, the cost of these items is already in the municipal budget.

The council finance committee will meet just prior to the full council. The finance committee meeting is at 5:30 p.m. Both meetings are in council chambers on the third floor of the Ironton City Center.
