Public forum focuses on drug problem

A public forum to increase awareness of the prescription drug epidemic existing in Southeastern Ohio and the Tri-State is planned for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ohio University Southern’s Bowman Auditorium, 1804 Liberty Avenue in Ironton.
According to information from the Lawrence County Drug and Major Crimes Task Force, the objective of this forum is to provide resources to those seeking help with substance abuse. Service providers will have tabletop displays in the lobby of the auditorium showing resources of advice, service, and support for those seeking to overcome an addiction or to those who seek resources to help a loved one in need of care.
Assistant Lawrence County Prosecutor Brigham Anderson, Dr. Dave Lucas, of the Lawrence County Wellness Initiative; Tim Sexton, of the drug task force; Dr. Terry Johnson, who is also an Ohio State Representatives; and Dr. Ed. Hughes of The Counseling Center are all scheduled to participate.
