Time for people to take back America

I am a proud U.S. Navy veteran, a life-long native of Ironton, Lawrence County, Ohio and a son of the late Gene and Elizabeth Sheridan, a former mayoral candidate and a proud honorary citizen of Ashland, Ky.

Born in 1945, I consider myself a good practicing Catholic Christian for over 65 years as well as a Christian Funeral Director.

In the 1960s, I was a very young campaign worker for John F. Kennedy who became President of the great United States of America. I had the privilege to see his brother, Robert, in person and campaign for him as well.

Unfortunately, both men were assassinated right here in America. President Kennedy’s famous quote was “ask not what your country can do for you but what can you do for your country.”

Today’s president, I believe, is saying, “What can you do for yourself?”

It is a 360 degree turn around that I have seen with my own eyes. He sometimes does not salute our flag. I have heard him say he would be a one-term president if he didn’t fulfill his promise to America.

I have heard him request from a foreign leader to wait and cut a deal after this upcoming election. His spouse, our First Lady, said she was only proud to be an American when her husband’s election was successful.

America’s Day of Prayer was not publicly observed.

His Obama Health Plan dictates coverage of contraceptives, which the Catholic Church denounces for moral value. A penalty or tax will be imposed on those who cannot afford insurance anyway.

This administration is headed for a dictatorial form of government.

We senior citizens can all recall a young, polished, articulate German who appeared out of nowhere in the 1940s.

It was a new era and it was a change.

His name was Adolph Hitler.

After he accomplished his prominence, he became a ruthless dictator and change did in fact take place as religion was removed. A religious sect of the Holy Bible, the Jews, were rounded up like animals.

More than 7 million perished in Nazi concentration camps. The world sat idle until they had enough Christian Americans unite in prayer for our country back.

Let’s stand up for the Christian values that America was founded upon.

That’s what you can do for your country.
