LUCASVILLE — A quick turn of events turned the outcome for the Coal Grove Hornets.

Down 14-6, the Hornets attempted to answer quickly only to have Nate Arnett return an interception 52 yards for a touchdown and key the Lucasville Valley Indians 34-18 win on Friday.

Coal Grove (1-2) took a 6-0 lead on a 2-yard run by Brandon Hogsten four minutes into the game.

Valley (3-0) came back to go up 7-6 on a 3-yard run by Arnett and a conversion kick of Ethan Clark-Holbrook.

The Indians scored again on a 17-yard run by Zach Shope with 4:21 left in the half to lead 14-6.

Coal Grove went to the air after the ensuing kickoff and Arnett came up with the big interception return for a 20-6 lead.

Arnett then ran 2 yards just before the half and it was 26-6.

Coal Grove recovered an onside kickoff to begin the second half and quarterback Alex Bare ran 2 yards for a touchdown to get the Hornets within 26-14.

The score remained that way until Arnett had a 2-yard scoring run with 9:19 to play.

Coal Grove answered with a scoring drive capped by Hogsten’s 2-yard run with 6:28 to play, but the Hornets could get no closer.
