PROCTORVILLE — Bishop Hartley showed why the Hawks entered the game ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press Division IV poll.

Hartley (5-0) racked up 553 yards of total offense including 387 on the ground as they rolled past the Fairland Dragons 56-6 on Friday.

“That’s one of the best teams I’ve seen. They were just solid,” said Fairland coach Dave Carroll. “They have a lot good athletes who could go the distance on you on any play anywhere on the field.”

Ja’Wuan Woodley ran five times for 113 yards and two touchdowns and quarterback Jared Brandewie was 4 of 6 passing for 166 yards and a touchdown to lead the Hawks’ offense.

Woodley had a 43-yard scoring run 40 seconds into the game and Marcellus Calhoun had touchdown runs of 6 and 2 yards to make it 21-0.

Alonzo Saxton caught an 86-yard touchdown pass on the first play after a Fairland punt rolled dead at the 14-yard line and it was 28-0.

Dominique Scott ran 50 yards for a touchdown and Woodley went 16 yards to cap a 95-yard, 8-play drive just before the half and it was 42-0.

Hez Moore ran 72 yards in the third quarter to open up a 49-0 lead.

Fairland (2-3) was limited to 130 yards of offense — all on the ground. Tyree Ceaser ran 23 times for 80 yards and scored the Dragons’ lone touchdown on a 1-yard run with 7:14 to play.

However, Moore erased that score by returning the ensuing kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown.

Fairland hosts South Point next Friday to begin Ohio Valley Conference play.
