HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The second annual PATH to the Cure 5K walk/run, sponsored by the St. Mary’s Medical Center Foundation, will take place Sunday at the St. Mary’s Center for Education, located at 2825 Fifth Ave.

Registration starts at 1 p.m. with the walk/run starting at 3 p.m. Proceeds from the event will go toward both the St. Mary’s Pink Ribbon Fund, which helps provide mammograms to Tri-State women who are unable to afford them and the Paul Ambrose Trails for Health.

The inaugural event last year raised more than $35,000 with more than 1000 people participating.

“Last year the environment was just magnetic,” said David Sheils, St. Mary’s Medical Center Foundation president. “This year we hope to make it even bigger.”

Prizes will be awarded in a number of categories including Best Team Spirit and Best Shirt, as well as awards for the top male and female finishers in each age group.

In addition to the race, there will be tailgating and children’s inflatables. The public is invited to attend, even if they do not wish to run or walk in the 5K. Anyone wanting to make a donation can do so on the event’s website at www.PATHtotheCure.org.

More information about the event, as well as registration information, is also available at www.PATHtotheCure.org.
