The rollercoaster week appears to be riding upward.

After losses to Portsmouth (17-25,22-25,16-25) and Greenup County (14-25, 18-25, 25-22, 13-25) last week, the Lady Tigers bounced back Wednesday with a tough straight sets win over the Fairland Lady Dragons, 25-22, 26-24 and 25-20.

“The girls played well tonight. We had only 10 serve reception errors in three games and we had only two passing errors,” said Ironton coach Beth Campbell.

“The girls have been working hard on their games during practice on our off days. They are coming in before the start of practice and doing passing drills with each other. They have a goal and they are working hard at achieving that goal.”

Saige Fields led Ironton with 11 points including 8 aces as she eclipsed 500 career points. Andi Kratzenberg scored 7 points, Macy Wise 6 and Jordan Hannan 6.

Kratzenberg also had 8 kills, Lexie Washington 6 kills, and Fields and Wise 5 each. Maggie Thomas registered 23 assists.

Fairland was led by Haley Woodall with 8 points. Carly Riley and Ellen Hinshaw scored 7 points each.

Ironton played Chesapeake on Thursday and host Oak Hill at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in the Division III sectional tournament.
