Chamber will host candidates’ forum at OUS

WSAZ-TV morning news anchor, Rob Johnson will moderate the bi-annual candidates’ forum hosted by the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce.

The forum will be Tuesday, Oct. 30 at Ohio University Southern in Ironton.

The forum will feature all legislative races that are on the Nov. 6 ballot. Candidates will include Democrat Charlie Wilson who is challenging incumbent Republican Bill Johnson for the U.S. House of Representatives 6th District seat; Republican Ryan Smith facing Democrat Josh Bailey for the 93rd state House seat; Republican Terry Johnson and his opponent for the 90th District state seat, Democrat John Haas; and all five Lawrence County Commission candidates.

Republican incumbent Bill Pratt is facing Democrat Carl Robinson. Republican incumbent Freddie Hayes is facing Democrat Doug Malone; and Republican Les Boggs is running unopposed.

The media panel asking questions of the candidates will feature WSAZ-TV news reporter Randy Yohe, Huntington Herald Dispatch reporter Dave Malloy and David Lucas, associate professor of communications studies at Ohio University Southern.

The forum will begin at 6 p.m. in the Collins Center, Bowman Auditorium. The candidates and party committee members are invited to separate receptions beginning at 5 p.m. in the Ohio and 1804 rooms in the Collins Center.

The forum is free and open to the public.
