IRONTON — Patrick Lewis ran 26 times for four touchdowns and 310 yards including 249 in the second half as the Ironton Fighting Tigers beat the Bloom-Carroll Bulldogs 41-16 Friday in the Division IV Region 15 quarterfinals.

Ironton took a 7-0 lead on a Lewis 8-yard run in the first quarter. B-C recovered a fumble at the Ironton 46 and scored seven plays later on a 14-yard Kelly Milliser to Tyler Sorg pass.

A bad snap on a punt gave Ironton the ball at the Bulldogs’ 5-yard line and Tanner Dutey scored on a 1-yard quarterback sneak for a 14-7 lead.

B-C got within 14-13 when Milliser hit Sorg on a 44-yard Hail Mary pass as time expired in the first half. The ball appeared to be intercepted but went through the hands of an Ironton defensive back into Sorg’s hands.

A 23-yard field goal by Dominic Garris gave B-C a 16-14 lead to begin the second half, but Lewis took over with a 53-yard scoring run to make it 20-16 with 6:07 left in the third quarter.

Lewis broke the game open with touchdown runs of 64 and 23 yards to make it 34-16 with 7:04 to play.

Bloom-Carroll (5-6) had 277 total yards with 98 coming on the ground. Leading rusher Zach Jude had just 74 yards on 23 carries. Milliser was 12 of 35 for 179 yards and two touchdowns.

Ironton will play Johnstown-Monroe in the regional semifinals next Friday, possibly at Jackson. The Johnnies beat Ironton 34-7 last season in the regional semifinals.

ZANESVILLE — Quarterback Adrick Cronin threw for three second half touchdowns as the Bishop Rosecrans pulled away from the Symmes Valley Vikings 26-3 in the Division VI Region 23 quarterfinals.

The Vikings (8-3) rushed for 257 yards with D.J. Miller running 15 times for 171 yards.

Cronin was 16 of 20 passing for 168 yards as the Bishops (8-3) pulled away after leading just 6-3 at the half.

Jess Moore ran for 47 yards and Ben Baldwin caught seven passes for 82 yards.

Symmes Valley recovered a Rosecrans’ punt at the 2-yard line and drove the length of the field to the 3-yard line. But an offsides penalty pushed the ball back and the Vikings settled for a  25-yard field goal by Tyler Ferguson and the lead was 3-0.

Baldwin picked up a bad snap 10 yards behind the line of scrimmage and ran for a touchdown that gave the Bishops a 6-3  lead with 2:55 left in the half.

But Cronin threw an 8-yard TD pass to Jared Cox in the third quarter and then scoring passes of 14 and 11 yards to Thomas Thacker in the fourth quarter.
