Jean Johnson
Willa Jean Johnson, 81, of Pedro passed away Monday Nov. 19, 2012 at her residence. The Adams County native was born May 20, 1931 a daughter of the late Willie and Esther Howard Gallion. She was the widow of the late Carl Raymond Johnson who passed away Dec. 1, 1998. Willa attended Green Township Schools. She retired after 27 years as a cook for the Rock Hill Middle School and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to husband she was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Keith Johnson; and two brothers, Chester and Lester Gallion. Willa is survived by a son, Carl Ronald Johnson of Spencerville; son, Terry Michael Johnson of Knoxville, Tenn.; daughter, Sheila Marie Walls of Pine Grove; daughter, Karla Jean Johnson of Ironton; daughter, Lori Duvene Johnson of Pedro; sister, Sherline Fetters of Salina; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Nellie Huffman
Nellie Faye Willis Huffman, 77, of Argillite, Ky., died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at her residence. Funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods,Ky., with Pastor Harold McKenzie officiating. A private committal service will be held at Huffman Cemetery in Cannonsburg, Ky. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the funeral home to aid with final expenses. Clarence Myers
Clarence “Bud” Myers, 74, of Coal Grove, passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Ironton. He was born Feb. 22, 1938 ,in Coal Grove, the son of the late Henry “Perk” and Clara Bell (Lintner) Myers. He was a graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School with the class of 1956, and a member of Memorial Methodist Church in Coal Grove. He was a retired brick mason from Armco Steel Corporation after 34 years of service.
He was married Oct. 6, 1962, to Judy Gail Harmon, his loving wife of 50 years. He was a devoted father of daughter, Jana and husband, Steven R. Fields of Ironton, and son, John Eric Myers of Bloomingdale, Ill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Capt. Richard Lyon Edwards.He is survived by his brother, Richard “Dick” and wife Ana Maria Myers of Auburndale, Fla.; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Sally Barden of New Hartford, N.Y.; nephews, Jack and wife Karen Myers, Jody Myers of Auburndale, John and wife, Mary Barden, of Logan, Texas, Jim Barden of Valdosta, Ga., Dennis Barden of Lake George, N.Y., Danny and wife Vicki Barden of Rio Rico, Ariz.; niece, Cathy and Manfred Krukow of Naples, Fla. along with an extended loving family.
Visitation will begin at noon Friday at Phillips Funeral Home. A memorial graveside service will follow at Woodland Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. John Hayes and Rev. Jim Beals officiating. To offer condolences to the family please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
Sophia Wilson
Sophia Wilson, 97, of Kitts Hill, passed away Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at the Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Ky. She was born Aug. 16, 1915 in Kitts Hill to the late John and Emma (Murnahan) Dickess. Sophia is a 1933 graduate of Kitts Hill High School. She was retired from the Dayton Malleable Manufacturing Company, and is a member of Mamre Missionary Baptist Church, Kitts Hill.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Wilson, whom she married Dec. 10, 1942; six brothers, Tom Dickess, Frank Dickess, Homer “Jack” Dickess, Dave Dickess, Ed Dickess, and Wilburn Dickess; and one sister, Clara (Dickess) Mootz. She is survived by two sisters, Elena Szabo of Kitts Hill and Rachel Neal of Ironton; one brother, Mack ( Lil ) Dickess of Ironton; a very special niece, Thelma Faye Dickess Clonch of South Point; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with Pastors Ryan McKee and John Paul Patterson officiating. Entombment will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Community Hospice Care Center, 2330 Pollard Road, Ashland, KY, 41101.
