PROCTORVILLE — The team scores said it all.

In an evenly matched tournament, the Gallipolis Blue Devils won the Fairland Wrestling Invitational Dual Pool.

“The competition was very strong. There was some great competition and many close matches,” said Fairland coach Chuck Wentz.

Gallipolis had 108 points followed by Huntington (W.Va.) with 93, Chesapeake 64, Meigs 57, Fairland 56, Zane Trace 53, Lincoln County (W.Va.) 24 and Logan (W.Va.) 18.

Chesapeake had seven wrestlers placed led by Logan McCloud and Jerrod Browning. McCloud won the 106-pound division and Browning claimed the 132-pound class.

The Panthers’ Sawyer Stephens was third at 113, Mickey Sanchez was second at 120, Cody Bradley fourth at 145, Shawn Johnson fourth at 152, Jaycob Kitchen fourth at 220 and Cole Webb was third at 285.

Fairland also placed seven wrestlers with Austin Earls the lone winner in the 120-pound class.

Tyree Ceasar was second in the 182-pound division, Zack McKinney was third at 220, Evan Blanton was third in the 106 division, Emery was fourth at 126 and Malcolm Yancey was runner-up at 152.

Fairland wrestles at Lincoln County next Saturday.
