Oscar Meadows

Oscar Ray Meadows, 74, of Pedro, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at a local health care center in Ironton. The Sheritts native was born June 2, 1938, the son of the late Stanley and Stella Clarkson Meadows.

Mr. Meadows attended Waterloo High School and was a former equipment operator for C.J. Hughes. He attended Rehobeth Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, sitting on his front porch with his three loving companions, Blacky, Punky and Duke and visiting with friends and relatives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold Edward Meadows, Glen Everett Meadows and David Lee Meadows.

He is survived by two brothers, Jerry Meadows and his wife, Linda of Jackson, James Meadows and his wife, Tonnia of Pedro; two sisters, Myrtle Mitchell and her husband, Sam of Waterloo, and Flo Smith and her husband, Don of Cambridge, and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. today in Rehobeth Cemetery with Pastor Henry Hatfield officiating. Visitation was Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton. Claudia Adkins

Claudia J. Adkins, 60, of Chesapeake, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, in Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home with Bishop Tony Aiken officiating. Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park.
