WEST PORTSMOUTH — The Rock Hill Redmen just need to put two good halves together.

The Redmen battled in the first half before the Portsmouth West Senators pulled away in the second half for a 72-50 win on Wednesday.

“The first half we played great. We couldn’t play any better,” said Rock Hill coach Dave Hopper. “The second half they started to hit shots and our inexperience began to show.”

West led 17-14 after the first quarter despite 6 points by Rock Hill’s Jacob Falls.

Falls scored 5 more points in the second quarter but the Senators extended the lead to 35-27 at the half.

Rock Hill (2-6) cut the deficit to 35-31 to begin the second half, but Michael Hafer scored 10 points in the third quarter as West pulled away to a 58-37 lead.

Falls scored 15 points to lead the Redmen. Evan Morris had 10 points and 7 rebounds and Austin Collins had 8 points and 7 rebounds.

Hafer — who was held to one point in the first half — finished with 13 points. Michael Davis and Zach Frye scored 11 points each for West (5-3).

The Senators hit 10 3-point goals, five in each half.
