PEDRO — The cold weather must have had an effect on the Rock Hill Redwomen. They had to wait until their engine warmed up before they took off.
After a cold first half, the Redwomen outscored New Boston 29-7 in the second half and beat the Lady Tigers 52-25 on Wednesday.
“The third quarter was definitely the difference,” said Rock Hill coach Greg Damron. “We were sluggish as first. We had a good second half. We made a couple of adjustments and played solid in the second half.”
Brook Knipp scored a game-high 16 points to lead Rock Hill (6-7). Lindy Simpson had 9 points — all on 3-pointers — and Kaci Russell had 8 points and 4 steals. Madison Damron dished out 6 assists.
Sami Dillon had 8 points — all in the fourth quarter — and led the Redwomen with 10 rebounds.
Kiersten McGraw scored 12 points for New Boston (1-12).
The Lady Tigers led 7-6 at the end of the first quarter, but Knipp scored 8 points and Simpson hit a pair of treys as Rock Hill rallied to take a 23-18 lead at the half.
Knipp and Russell scored 6 points each in the third quarter and the defense held New Boston to just two points as Rock Hill opened up a 40-20 lead.
Coach Damron emptied his bench in the fourth quarter.
