SOUTH POINT — The South Point Lady Pointers got another win and they did it with a different featured cast.

Kaitlyn Brown pitched a three-hitter and struck out 10 and Bonnie Hileman was 3-3 and Halie Powell 2-3 to lead the offense as the Lady Pointers blanked the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers 8-0 Tuesday in a non-league game.

“Excellent pitching from Kaitlyn Brown and hitting production from Bonnie Hileman and Halie Powell were the keys to this game. It seems like someone new is stepping up each night when we need them,” said Lady Pointers’ coach Tanner Heaberlin.

“I couldn’t be happier with the way our tem in playing at the moment. We are taking it one game at a time and cutting down on mental errors.”

South Point is now 3-0 on the season.

Hannah Carey had an RBI single in the second inning and the score stayed that way until the Lady Pointers got five runs in the fourth inning.

Sylvia Griffith reached on an error, Andi Kleinman walked and Powell bunted for a hit to load the bases.

Brown walked to force in a run and Hileman doubled home a pair. Abbey Winkler grounded out as a run scored another Ironton error scored the final run.

Two runs scored in the sixth on doubles by Griffith and Kleinman and a triple by Powell.

Ironton (0-1) played without four starters due to a school related trip.

On Thursday, Ironton hosts Fairview, Ky., and South Point entertains New Boston.
