PROCTORVILLE — The smooth ride hit a detour.

After leading 3-1 after five innings, the Fairland Lady Dragons saw another big inning spoil a good effort as the Gallipolis Blue Angels scored six runs in the sixth inning and rally for a 7-3 win on Thursday.

“We had everything under control for five innings and then it just went south,” said Fairland coach Joe Auxier.

Fairland (1-3) took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Chloe Stanley walked, courtesy runner Allison Shepherd moved up on a passed ball and Haley Woodall had an RBI single.

The Lady Dragons scored two more runs in the third inning.

Mackenzie Riley doubled with one out, Stanley walked and Woodall had a two-run double.

Gallipolis got a run in the fifth and then used three walks, two errors and two hits to score six times in the sixth inning.

Fairland hosts River Valley on Friday.
