John Miller

John Larry Miller, 72, of Patriot, passed away Friday, April 19, 2013, at home. He was born July 24, 1940, in Lancaster to the late Millard and Ruth Jenkins Miller.

He is survived by his wife Janet Sue Spurlock Miller; 10 children, Danny (Johnda) Miller of Ironton, Nick (Leslie) Miller of Coal Grove, Shawn Miller of Ashland, Ky., Heather (Steven) Swann of Proctorville, Katherine Miller of Cincinnati, David (Sarah) Miller of South Point, Carla Stanley of Laurelville, Louise Stanley of Pedro, Marlin Ray Runyon II, deceased, and Scott (Kellie) Runyon of Ironton; 16 grandchildren, Jonathan Miller, Molly Miller, Hannah Miller, Gracie Miller, Amanda Miller, Amber Dawn Skinner, Ryan Swann, Hunter Swann, Paige Grant, Kaylin Hahn, Hayley Miller, Emily Miller, Jacob Stanley, Lexie Carrico, Kylie Runyon and Emma Runyon; three great-grandchildren, Layla Carr, and James and Jade Miller; one sister Flora (Lou) Ellis; two brothers Jimmy (Sandy) Miller and Gary (Rita) Wright; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

He retired from Armco Steel and the Ohio State Highway Patrol. He was a United States Navy veteran. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hall Funeral Home by Pastor D.L. Webb. Burial will follow in Flag Springs Cemetery Patriot. Proctorville VFW Post 6878 will conduct military graveside rites. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday the funeral home. Princella Jamison

Princella Lucille Warner Jamison, 84, of Portsmouth, passed Friday, April 19, 2013, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. The Pedro native was born Nov. 10, 1928, the daughter of the late Michael and Bertie Besco Warner.

Mrs. Jamison was a graduate of Ironton High School and attended Ashland Community College. She was a secretary at the Piketon, Ohio Uranium Enrichment Plant for 35 years and was of the Protestant faith. Aunt Princella was a kind and gracious woman. She loved spending time in her flower garden and with her family. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by one sister-in-law, Sarah Bragg Warner of Ravenswood, W.Va. She is also survived by nieces and nephews Leo and Mary Dalton, Leon and Linda Dalton, Leroy Dalton, Leona Knipp, Linda and Nick Rigney, Lena and Jamie Pancake, Lacy and Ginger Dalton, Laura and David Wilson, Lois and Kent Wellman, Lela and Jim Petrie, Lila and Rick Martin, Jerry and Stacie Warner; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Jamison; two sisters, Ida Belle Warner and Theresa Moore; two brothers, Clarence Dalton and Edward Warner; and one nephew, Lonnie Dalton.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Jamie Pancake officiating. Burial will be next to her mother in Pine Grove Cemetery. Joseph Warfield

Joseph Lloyd Warfield, 81, of Ironton, passed Friday, April 19, 2013, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Ironton. The Pleasant County, W.Va., native was born April 2, 1932, the son of the late Joseph Lloyd Warfield and Sarah Frances Jenkins Warfield.

Mr. Warfield was a 1949 graduate of St. Mary’s High School in West Virginia and attended MOI School in Frankfort, Ky. Mr. Warfield was a former mechanic and auctioneer for 21 years. He was also an educator for Ashland Community Tech College for 10 years. He was a member of 10th & Vine Church of Christ in Ironton. He also enjoyed and was active with the senior citizens group.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Irene Bailey Warfield.

He is survived by two daughters, Frances Naomi Blair of Ravenna, and Patricia Lynn (Larry) McGlone of Ashland, Ky.; two sons, Kenneth William (Linda) Warfield of Portsmouth, and Robert Lee (Tammy) Warfield and of Coal Grove; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and wife, Martha Jane Smith-Nazelrod Warfield of Ironton.

Philip Staton

Philip Lee Staton, 63, of Ironton, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at his residence. Arrangements are pending at Phillips Funeral Home.

 

Philip Roberts

Philip M. Roberts, 67, of Kitts Hill, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 19, 2013, at the Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Va. The Ironton native was born Dec. 30, 1945, a son to the late Robert Ned and Juanita (Patterson) Roberts. Philip is survived by his wife of 39 years, Billie “Jean” (Horn) Roberts.

Mr. Roberts is a 1963 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School. Philip went on to join the United States Army where he served three years in Germany. He later worked at Armco/AK Steel where he retired after 38 years in January 2006. He was a member of 13th Street Missionary Baptist Church in Ashland, Ky. Philip enjoyed farming and the Ohio State Buckeyes, but most of all he loved his family dearly.

In addition to his wife, Philip is survived by a son, Philip M. (Kim) Roberts II of Kitts Hill; two daughters, Beth Manning Lambert of Kitts Hill and Carrie (Chris) Lafon of South Point; four grandchildren, Sarah Winters Brock, Rikki Fraley, Alex Roberts, and Levi Lafon; a great-grandchild, Gabbi Brock; a brother, Robert “Bob” Roberts of Ashland; and two sisters, Hilda” Jean” Terry of South Point and Penny (Jack) Davis of Ironton.

In addition to his parents, Philip was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Stan and Audrey Patterson; and paternal grandparents, Isaac and Nancy Roberts.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with Pastors Bill Parker, John Paul Patterson and Ryan McKee officiating. Burial will follow in Mamre Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 8850. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Roberts, Derek Roberts, Shawn Booth, Ronnie Greg, Eric Spurlock and Adam Gilmore. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kenny Carpenter, George Farley and Bill Hartley.

Elizabeth Marcum

Elizabeth Marcum, 71, of South Point, died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, W.Va. A memorial service will be May 4 at the South Point Church of Christ with Mark Aites officiating. Anyone planning to attend the memorial service please contact the family before the service.
