AID — Sleepless in Seattle meet Hitless in the Valley.

Mitch Corn and Dylan McFann combined for a five-inning no-hitter on Tuesday, and Tanner Mays answered with a five-inning no-hitter of his own on Wednesday as the Symmes Valley Vikings got two more Southern Ohio Conference wins.

The Vikings blanked Beaver Eastern 11-0 on Tuesday as Corn went three innings with nine strikeouts and five walks and McFann had five strikeouts in two innings.

Mays struck out 11 and walked two as the Vikings blanked the New Boston Tigers 10-0 on Wednesday.

“That’s probably the best Tanner has thrown all year as far as strikes,” said Vikings’ coach Chad Renfroe.

“Corn was a little rusty coming off their senior trip, but he threw pretty well. McFann did a nice job.”

With the wins the Vikings are now 14-3 overall and 11-0 in the SOC. They play at Sciotoville East on Friday needing a win to clinch at least a share of the league title.

Symmes Valley had 14 hits in the win over Eastern.

D.J. Miller was 3-3 with a double and a triple. Alec Herrell was 2-3 with a double, McFann 3-3, Lane Wilson and Corn 2-3, Jacob Easthom was 1-2 with a double and Seth Jarrell was 1-2.

The Vikings banged out 11 more hits against New Boston.

Mays was 2-3 with two doubles and Wilson 2-2 with a double.

Miller was 2-2, Herrell 2-3, Dylan Pelletier 1-2 and McFann 1-3.

“We hit the ball pretty well up and down the lineup,” said Renfroe.
